How to check a Georgian company in the NAPR register

Status, ID code, directors and owners: which of them are free, which sit behind a captcha, which cost 13 GEL and one working day. Written for anyone who has a Georgian company name on an invoice, a contract, a job offer or a deposit request and wants the public record before the money moves.

Short on time? I read the NAPR record for you and send an English PDF within a day: $15 one company, $35 with Armenia too, $90 with the official extract. See the packages on Fiverr → (sold by the author)

Step one

Get the 9-digit identification code

Every legal entity in Georgia has a 9-digit identification code (საიდენტიფიკაციო კოდი). It is the registry number and the tax number in one; there is no separate VAT number. It appears on invoices, receipts, contracts, the footer of most company websites and the About page of most Facebook shops. Individual entrepreneurs (ი/მ) are registered under the person's own name and 11-digit personal number instead.

Ask for the code before you ask for anything else. A real company gives it instantly; it is printed on everything they issue. Names are ambiguous (the register holds many namesakes and branches, and the registered name is in Georgian script), but the code resolves to exactly one record. If a counterparty will not give you its identification code, that is already your answer.

Order the extract: 13 to 75 GEL, any company, any person

Georgia's Law on Public Registry says an extract "shall be given out to any person". You need no relationship with the company and no power of attorney. The extract is a signed PDF, dated on the day it is prepared, and it lists the persons authorised to manage and represent the company, the partners with their shares, the capital, and any lien, pledge or injunction on the record. It is the document banks, notaries and courts accept.

Online: register at my.gov.ge (a Georgian ID or a foreign passport plus a phone number), find "Preparation of extract from the Registry of Entrepreneurs", enter the identification code, pay by card. In person: any branch of the House of Justice (იუსტიციის სახლი, the Public Service Hall) prepares the same document at the counter; bring a passport.

An English-language version is prepared together with any order for an extra 26 GEL. Older extracts attached to past applications can be downloaded free from the detail view described above; they show the record as it was on their date, which is sometimes exactly what you want.

Fees as listed on napr.gov.ge/en/page/fees-and-terms on 5 Sep 2026; counter prices corrected on 13 Sep 2026 (the 13, 26 and 39 GEL figures shown here before belong to a different service, "Preparation of information from the Registry"). Need the extract in English for a bank or a visa? See the English extract guide. The law's own rate table (Government decree 509) is slightly lower; the portal charges what its page says.

The reverse search

From a person or a holding company to every company they are in

The same portal has a participant search (მონაწილის ძებნა) that almost nobody outside Georgia knows about. Type a first name and last name, or an organisation's name, and it returns every company where that party is a partner, director, founder or representative, with the company's identification code and the participation type. No captcha, no account.

It answers questions the forward search cannot: does the director who signed your contract run six other companies, three of them suspended? Is the "group" a real holding with registered subsidiaries or one LLC and a logo? Which Georgian entities does a foreign parent own directly?

Two cautions. Georgian names are common and the search matches on name text, so a result set for "Giorgi Beridze" mixes several people; the personal-number column separates them only for individual entrepreneurs. And the register is a business record: use it to check companies and the people who run them, never to locate or profile a private person.

Before you pay

The scam checklist

Each line is a question the register answers in under a minute. The pattern behind most complaints we read (rental deposits, surrogacy agencies, apartment developers, call-centre jobs, residency-for-a-fee offers) is a real-looking brand with no matching legal entity behind it.

Alphabet

Georgian names, Latin names, and why the code wins

A Georgian company's registered name is in Mkhedruli, the Georgian script. Its trade name in Latin letters is a marketing choice and rarely a letter-for-letter transliteration: Silknet is registered as შპს სილქნეტი, which the national transliteration renders as "shps silkneti". Searching "Silknet" in the name field can surface branches, holdings and namesakes before the operating company; searching the code 204952685 returns one row.

Practical habits: copy the Georgian name from the company's own website footer or its Facebook About page and paste it; search a short Georgian fragment rather than the full name (the search is a substring match); and whenever a document carries a 9-digit code, search the code and ignore the name entirely. The tool below returns both the Georgian original and a transliteration on every record for the same reason: the two rarely agree and you will need both.

At scale

Doing this a hundred times a month: Reestri

Everything above is manual and free, and for one company that is the right way. If you onboard suppliers, screen counterparties from a spreadsheet, or want an AI agent to run the check, Reestri wraps the captcha-free layer of the register as pay-per-lookup tools on Apify. I built it and I sell it; there is no subscription and Apify's free monthly credit covers first runs.

The tools read the same public search you used in step two, live, and return English-keyed JSON with the Georgian original, a transliteration, a normalised status and an evidence block (source URL, timestamp, content hash) so any record can be re-verified. They do not type the captcha: the detail view stays with humans and the ownership extract still has to be ordered from NAPR. A tool that told you otherwise would be automating a page the registry asked people not to automate.

Georgia company lookup$0.05 per search + $0.25 per record
Georgia person to companies$0.05 per search + $0.10 per row
Company screen, GE + AM + MD in one call$0.50 per query + $0.10 per match

Also callable by AI agents as MCP tools; setup is on the front page. Journalists and researchers: lookups are free on request, write to soso@reestri.io with the names.

Rather have it done?

A finished counterparty check from the official registers, as an English PDF within a day, from $15 on Fiverr. See the packages on Fiverr →

Disclosure: sold by the author of this guide. $15 covers one company in one country; $35 checks Georgia and Armenia, with Armenia's declared owners and public contracts; $90 adds the official Georgian extract with founders and shares and takes two days. Reports cover Georgian and Armenian companies only. Everything in them comes from the public registers this page describes, which you can read yourself for free or for the NAPR fee.
